About the Item
Moroccan Interiors Tashen Book by Lisa Lovatt-Smith.
A temptation to dream This book explores contemporary interiors in the sun-soaked land that stretches from the Sahara to the Mediterranean: Morocco. The diversity is breathtaking: the rural pis? architecture of the south is a far cry from the Hispano-Mooresque ornamental beauty of the imperial cities. Moroccan Interiors are as endlessly varied as the country itself, from the restored palaces in the medina of Marrakesh (where aesthetes of the international set now live).
Exploring contemporary interiors in the sun-soaked African nation of Morocco, this breathtaking volume takes readers into the restored palaces of Marrakesh as well as humble fishermen's homes at Sisi Moussa d'Aglou.
The colorful palette of this country and the light there themselves suffuse these very different homes with a vitality that is as distinctive to modern Morocco as it is a reflection of contemporary trends in decor worldwide. The author: Lisa Lovatt-Smith was born in 1967 in Barcelona of British parents. She has since lived in London, Madrid and Milan. At eighteen she began a meteoric career at the various international editions of Vogue. She has since decided to concentrate on writing in Paris, her chosen home, where she lives with her daughter

The book spans across six continents and includes a vast range of styles. This book is great for the architecture and home-styling lover, inspiration for the renovation starter, or as a lovely coffee table book for any home. Taschen, the publisher of Brobdingnagian art and design books, has collected 100 interiors in two hefty volumes, like an Oxford English Dictionary of global interiors. A is for an apartment in Amsterdam, overlooking the North Sea Canal. It is also for a concrete spaceship of a house (plus moat) in Acapulco. B is for Beijing and Beverly Hills and Berlin, and not one but two cold war-era apartments — one in former Soviet housing, its pocked cement walls now patina for a young artist’s vintage and Ikea furniture. C is for Cape Town, and the home of an artist who works in mosaics and plumbing pipes painted in rainbow colors. In Chiang Mai, a house on stilts is tiled in concrete imprinted with bamboo. In New York City, a computer consultant lives in a former garage outfitted with twin sleeping pods made from an oil truck tank. This collection represents the greatest hits from Taschen’s archive Includes interiors in Argentina, Brazil, China, Cuba, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, the USA, and many more countries. With pictures by leading interior photographers including Xavier Béjot, Pieter Estersohn, Marina Faust, Reto Guntli, François Halard...Category

Dressmaking type details abound in the photographs in this book. She is just a cut above many designers out there. New Classic Interiors starts off in Rome (her birthplace), then on to Chicago, and New York. There are great photos of projects and diagrams. The text is interesting and you will learn why certain things were created the way they were, her opinions on lighting, and general design information that make her rooms just a cut above other designs. If I had to be critical at all, it would be the use of red. This use to be one of my favorite home and clothing colors, but now blue reigns. Alessandra is heavily invested in the color red, and uses it magnificently! As a passionate collector of interior design books...Category
