Recalling the demands placed upon him, the thinking behind his decisions, and the pressures of political life, Nixon outlines what he saw as the key turning points of his early public life. From the Hiss case to the Checkers speech, to the kitchen debate with Khrushchev and the presidential campaign against Kennedy in 1960, the book is a remarkable and reflective self-portrait of Nixon as congressman, senator, and vice-president. First published in 1962, the book was helpful in rehabilitating Nixon’s image after the election defeat of 1960. CONDITION: Good condition overall.
