1959 American HAR Hargo Creations Cobra Necklace, Bracelet & Earrings Jewellery
About the Item
A stunning vintage costume jewellery set comprised of a HAR (Hargo Creations) matching serpent or cobra snake necklace, bracelet & pair earrings designed in New York USA where the company was located. This specific design is from their HAR Fantasy Collection of 1959 and is one of the company's most coveted, collectible and sought after designs which is eye-catching, unusual and exciting to wear.
The necklace features a twisted gold-coloured metal chain with a central section featuring a cobra motif decorated with the rare lava stones, amber rhinestones which are all set in a gilt green enamel setting. The clasp is situated behind. The enamelled metal has fine detail and is in excellent condition with an antiqued wash that allows the highly textured metal to shine through.
The cobra head predominates the hinged-clamper bangle bracelet. The earrings are clip on. The box-type clasp is on the back of the cobra centrepiece; thus the gold tone chain is continuous and the clasp is hidden behind.
The bangle is stamped HAR with copyright C. The back of one earring is also stamped. This copyright for this piece was given in April 1959. The necklace is not signed which is usually the case.
All pieces are in a very good vintage condition.
This set is featured in Angie Gordon's book "Twentieth Century - Costume Jewellery" and Nancy Shiffer’s "Fun Jewellery"
