About the Item

Contemporary New York artist Elena Lyakir's "The Enchantress" Raw Cut Quartz Crystal Necklace is part of her Armed With Ardor jewelry line. This one of a kind piece is made of hand sculpted epoxy clay with gold patina and a resin finish, Russian raw cut quartz crystal with garnet and tiger’s eye detail and a vintage brass herringbone chain. All pieces are accompanied with a certificate of authenticity from the artist and will ship directly from her Vermont studio. Quartz properties: Master healer, quartz clarifies, purifies, protects, inspires, guides and enlightens. Garnet properties: Revitalises, purifies and balances energy, bringing serenity or passion as appropriate. Inspires love and devotion and balances the sex drive while alleviating emotional disharmony. It activates and strengthens the survival instinct, bringing courage and strength. Tiger’s Eye properties: Assists courage and confidence, which comes from understanding your true desires. It helps with success, motivation and with discovery of your authentic self through testing your perceived limitations. Artist's biography: Raised in communist Ukraine and influenced by mysticism and nostalgia of Soviet cinematography and literature, Elena developed a passion for photography as a young child. In 1990 she immigrated to rural U.S. with her family, seeking political asylum, and at 18 she arrived in New York City alone, impressionable, and adrift. Fascinated by the culture, energy, and ingenuity of the city, she first tried to make ends meet by working as a model and assisting photographers. In 1995 Elena found herself swept away by the vibrant avant-garde art scene of the Lower East Side and creating art became her passion and purpose. She started using large format and toy film cameras and eventually studied photography at MSFA but her unorthodox approach to the medium and adverse childhood experiences with oppressive authority in Ukraine impelled Elena to continue pursuing her art through independent studies and experimentation. Elena’s work is included in private and corporate collections. She has exhibited in galleries and art fairs in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Berlin, Paris, Lille, Sydney, and Istanbul and continues to produce commissioned work for collectors and boutique hospitality brands around the globe. Her new jewelry line Armed With Ardor is wearable art, each creation has a title which serves as a symbol for the properties of a stone it incorporates. It draws inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi; raw yet meticulously crafted by hand, each piece is unique. It is a meditation on form and essence, hard angles and fluidity, the raw and the refined, and a spiritual dialogue between feminine and masculine, stellar and earthly, the inner and the outer. It is a tribute to the Great Mystery and the Divine Spirit within each of us, as unique and special as each stone created by nature. The pieces are not premeditated but inspired and dictated by the energy and character of each individual stone. Armed With Ardor is a collection of symbols, objects for incantation of rituals and memories, and facilitators of inspiration and discovery, grounding and guidance, protection and healing.
