  • Antique Polo Mallet by J. Salter, Aldershot.
    Located in Oxfordshire, GB
Early Vintage Polo Mallet, J. Salter. A good late 19th century polo mallet with a round bamboo root head with original rattan, mallacca cane bamboo shaft with original handle made by James Salter & Son, Aldershot, No. 52. It has a round makers stamp 'J. Salter & Son, Aldershot' and ' Made Entirely By J. Salter & Son'. A great looking vintage polo mallet. The secret of his success was using only the best materials available and always trying to improve his products. When James retired his sixth child, Sydney, took over the running of the business. The business continued to grow, as did the clientele. The list of Salter's customers was very impressive, and they supplied equipment to high ranking military personnel, Dukes, Maharajas, Princes and Kings, all of it made in the Aldershot premises. Salter & Sons of Aldershot were also the sole makers for Bicycle polo sticks...
