A reference to one of the most characteristic uses of marble and to the territory of origin of Studio Lievito, this package recalls the box where the lard is stored during its seasoning. Ashioned of white carrara marble with a sliding mahogany drawer, this elegant case comes with two decks of 54 poker cards designed by Studio Lievito. The whimsical name of this piece derives from the catchy phrase (“like when it’s raining outside” in English) used to easily remember the value order in the deck of French cards, so the initials Come Quando Fuori Piove create an acronym for the value order of the seeds starting from the most powerful: Cuori (hearts), Quadri (diamonds), Fiori (clubs), and Picche (spades).
Studio Lievito is a design firm founded in 2010 by designers Laura Passalacqua, Francesco Taviani an Jacopo Volpi. Based in Florence, Studio Lievito stands out for its ability to delicately reinvent and redefine modern production techniques using traditional crafting methods. Each piece is meticolously handmade: with its collection Studio Lievito wants to promote a ‘slow design’ that subverts conventional decor norms by means of simple yet witty gestures and accurate detailing.
