Created in 1943, the Thermette Hot Lunch Box by Privett Mfg. of Oakland was used in the Oakland Ship Yards during the 1940s where the Victory Ships were constructed and later available to the public. Using aluminum which at the time was fairly new in the use of Industrial Design Objects. The boxes were designed to be plugged in about 10 minutes before the lunch break and workers would have a hot meal. A interesting object form this time period.
