Civil War Generals Guide flags are very rare. Most are in museums and small private collections. Every few years or so one may surface and commands top dollar. Congress voted the 36th State into The Union on October 31, 1864. Even though the 36th State did not become official till July 4th 1865 flag makers were not in the business of making obsolete flags with the wrong star count. As the 36th State was approved in October 1864 this flag would have been made sometime in late 1864 and served during the Civil War. Flag size approximately, 24” x 37” Frame 37” x 50” Professional conservation framing & UV acrylic See following two reference books for similar constructed flags. “American Flags by Nancy Druckman” Designs for a young nation Back jacket cover pictures a “National Colors” “Generals Guide” Flag of General McClellan’s Flag.
