Pair of WW1 French Trench Art, Art Deco Artillery Brass Shell Casing Vases

About the Item

A pair of unique, heavily patinated, hand-crafted historical memorabilia from World War 1, France, between 1914 and 1918. Trench art ("Art des tranchées", in French), was common during WW1 (1914-1918) and originated in the trenches, where soldiers would escape stress and boredom through the production of art. Soldiers would repurpose the materials available to us, like brass shell casings, and hand-craft decorative objects. These vases are masterfully decorated with herons and reeds, typical of the Art-deco period.
