1937 Telechron “Casino” Art Deco Electric Clock with Cobalt Blue Mirror

About the Item

It features a stunning cobalt blue mirror, complemented by a polished white Plaskon base and hands. The dial boasts a textured blue surface, while the polished brass bezel is adorned with cut-out numerals. To adjust the time, simply pull out and turn the polished brass knob located at the back. This action also activates a red dot power-out signal, transitioning from red to blue. "Casino" electric shelf clock, had a relatively short market presence, spanning only about a year from 1936 to 1937. This particular version boasts a cobalt blue mirrored glass face paired with an aqua blue Enameloid (resembling cloisonné-like pressed plastic) dial. The origin of this design is possibly attributed to Designer Eugene J. Lux, as the identical brass bezel is also found on other Telechron clocks associated with him. However, it's important to note that this remains speculative. The production figures for the Casino model, encompassing all available colors, are relatively modest, with just 18,255 units sold. This figure contrasts with the more common Telechron models, which typically range between 600,000 to 1,000,000 units or thereabouts. ("Casino" model # 4F71), dating to the 1936-1937 manufacturing period.
