Vintage Set of Two Moroccan Double Ceramic Bongo-Style Tbilat Drums

Vintage Set of Two Moroccan Double Ceramic Bongo-Style Tbilat Drums

Located in Topeka, KS

Two sets of wonderful vintage bongo-style Moroccan double ceramic drums. One large which is painted and glazed and one smaller which is undecorated and unglazed. They make great decor but they are usable and in great vintage condition. These are just fantastic! They look so good together on a shelf and if you can play them, all the better. These vintage Moroccan ceramic drums are called Tbilat. They are a percussion instrument which is similar to bongos and table. They are always a pair of decorated or undecorated pottery drums of two different sizes and the skinheads are stretched by and the drums are encased with plaited gut cords. They are of the membranophone instrument family and played by placing them on the ground between the legs. These marvellous examples are, circa 1970. We know this because we purchased them from their original owner. He was a real music buff and child of the 70’s and had many vintage musical instruments...
