The piano cheek features a carved, Classical meander and acanthus in high relief. The two-pedal piano lyre features carved inverted fish, c-scrolls and a central cartouche. The music desk in an openwork arabesque design and a central lyre motif. A sinuous wave pattern double moulding surrounds the cabinet base.
At the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, there were several manufacturer's competitions, including a piano competition. The Steinway company sent two grand pianos displaying their latest developments, demonstrating the firm's innovative and markedly improved piano quality. Their determined pursuit of quality was rewarded at the world exhibition with a gold medal. An 1897, Arts and Crafts Bechstein upright piano with a polished, rosewood case, fretwork panels and ornate brass hinges in a stylised floral design. Unique design by Walter Cave, executed by C. Bechstein and exhibited by Maple & Co.
C. Bechstein is inscribed on a square, brass plaque on the piano fall.
The front panel features cupboard doors, which open so as to allow the music desk to fall into place. These doors occupy half the width of the front, so that they fold back out of the way of the player. The candle sconces are concealed behind the doors and brought into use when required.
The music desk is in an openwork folkloric inspired design of stylised birds, foliage and flowers.

An 1899, Bluthner grand piano with a rosewood case, decorated with Art Nouveau and Empire style elements. It was showcased at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. Piano bought by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in the Coronation year of 1902 to be situated in the ballroom of Malborough House. It was sold in 1936 to Major Maconochie in Bath. This piano is in great original condition having only had two previous owners. A rare opportunity to acquire a royal piano.

Restored, 1907 Ibach Model 2 grand piano with a cherry case in a checkerboard design and inlaid, contrasting squares on the piano lid. Piano music desk is in an openwork dual criss-cross design. Piano has gate legs with four contrasting black spindles. Piano one of two designed for and offered to Richard Strauss by Ibach. Ibach made two pianos almost identical in this design except, the other #56279 had low, square piano cheeks. Richard Strauss chose that one as he intended the piano for his home where he hosted concerts and wanted his audience to be able to see his hands. This piano remained in the possession of Ibach and was used in exhibitions for promotional purposes. This piano was designed by Emanuel von Seidl, a German architect, interior designer and engineer. Between 1900 and 1918, Seidl was a successful villa architect and was known far beyond the borders of his hometown of Munich. Probably his most important private houses include that of Richard Strauss with its generously glazed bay window and view of the Alps, and the country estate Schloss Wolfsbrunn built for the mining entrepreneur Georg Wolf.

An extremely limited number of these automatic disk changers were ever created, and even fewer have survived in such outstanding condition.
