Mid-Century Era Bludworth Marine Port Pilot Loop Nautical Radio Direction Finder
About the Item
This vintage nautical direction finder was made by Bludworth Marine Mfg. of the United States in approximately 1960 in the period Mid-Century Modern style. The case is composed of metal with a period industrial grey painted finish with black silk screened numbers and lettering, with black and silver dials. The 'loop' antenae on the top turns completely around in either direction and the knobs appear to be working as intended. These instruments were made by several companies using various types of technology, and this 'Port Pilot' model worked on batteries. We have not tested, or opened this unit, so there may be additional wear to the components besides what is presented in the photos to the exterior. It is also worthyt o note that the radio technology that supported these direction finders is obsolete, so this is a decorative 'shelf piece' to a collector, or used for re-purposing in some form.
