A vintage lifebuoy from a French ship, early 20th century.

About the Item

A vintage lifebuoy from a French ship, dating back to the early 20th century. It features a cork core covered with white and red fabric and equipped with a lifeline. It has a brass ring and boasts a beautiful patina, reflecting its age and history. These lifebuoys were equipped with ropes or lines to allow people to hold on to them in case of emergency. They also often had reflective colours to make them easier to spot at night. Lifebuoys were essential aboard ships to ensure the safety of passengers and crew in case of maritime emergencies such as shipwrecks or man overboard situations. They were regularly inspected and maintained to ensure their effectiveness when needed.
