18th Century Gold Processional Religious Church Cross

About the Item

Wonderfully ornate gilt gesso over carved wood processional cross, probably northern Italy late 18th century. The large floral wreath with carved gilt ribbons, a small cross to the centre sits atop a pair of crossed Torchiere, all upon the spiked footed base. The cross has been mounted upon a removable later (likely 19th century) carved wooden base, which has been dark stained.
