19th Century collection of Italian museum religious figures
A rare collection of mid-19th Century hand crafted gesso over pine museum quality religious Italian figures. In the form of five bishops, 2 holding bibles and one a pole, and one soldier. These hand-crafted examples may well have been part of a larger collection at some point placed in a religious seen or display. A few of them are stamped (numbered) at the base. They are fragile in form, and some have aged repairs to the plaster and painted surface.
Size in inches approx. includes stand.: 8” x W 4” x D 3”.

Material: Gesso over pine
Condition: Aged
A fragile set that has stood the test of tie, over 150 years old. They have aged repairs to the plaster and paint. Missing detail across these figures and faded detail with broken and missing hands. Attached firmly to their bases however and in overall presentable condition. All surfaces are worn, and the paint has crackled across all the figures. The faces are faded and cracked in sections.
