It has faults.
Figurative carving made of wood, polychrome and gilded, representing a naked child, with hair fallen over one eye and one leg crossed over the other, sitting on a pedestal or base. The shallow work on the back is indicative that the sculpture was surely intended to go on an altarpiece. Although the expression could indicate that it is a Child Jesus in some way prefiguring the Passion, it is necessary to indicate that it could also be one of the child figures with which altarpieces were usually completed or decorated in the Spanish Renaissance. The carving is linked to this style due to its anatomy and lines and due to the great classicist influence of the posture that we appreciate, also due to the composition of plant elements and scrollwork on the front of the figure's seat. Stylistically, both the treatment of the child's hair and its expressiveness and posture are reminiscent, in details, of works by Alonso González Berruguete (Paredes de Nava, Palencia, around 1490-Toledo, 1561), painter and sculptor better known as Alonso Berruguete and son of the painter Pedro. It is also necessary to remember the Palencia focus of the 16th century (with masters such as Juan de Balmaseda).
