Italian Pair of 18th Century Religious Incense Torches
About the Item
This is an incredibly unique pair of incense torches from Italy that have recently been fitted with new metal bases so they may stand-up alone. Made of painted metal and wood that’s been worn away with time and use, the distress gives it the perfect authentic antiquated look. The highly decorative top also includes metal shaped flowers and features a pierced design around the top. Although delicate, both torches unlatch to reveal where the incense was secured during use in a church or procession. C. 1800 or much earlier. The torches differ slightly in height, one is 60 ¾”H, the other 58 ?”H.
