Pure Art Deco Crucifix w. Stylized Bronze Sculpture of Christ on Silkwood Cross

About the Item

Marked altar crucifix with a brass base with Christogram and a bronze corpus with a Gothic crown. For us the most powerful statement will always be 'the truth will set you free'. It is what we have learned most from the life of Christ and of His teachings and it is the one thing we always think about whenever we look at a crucifix. Anyone who has tried to break down his/her ego and found a clearer consciousness in the process, knows how healing and rewarding that journey can be. After that you can only be grateful for all the good things that are bound to come your way. Good things will come your way, because the universe needs people like you. Both the beautifully designed wooden cross and the Art Deco bronze corpus of Christ have an amazing patina and together they make this meaningful antique a true work of beauty. The striking, geometrical Art Deco details of the corpus of Christ combined with the Gothic crown with the trefoil symbols (for the trinity), truly makes this a stunning and impressive work of religious art that will never cease to impress. This antique European altar crucifix comes with a tiny maker's mark/monogram in the side of the base (see image 12). This MJ or JM clearly was a seasoned master craftsman, but unfortunately we don't know who he was. The stylish hand-hammered brass base with the perfect Christogram and the way the cross and the base are connected are just some of the other details/element that make this crucifix stand out from anything we ever saw. This top quality workmanship and meaningful crucifix also makes a great gift for a devout friend or loved one. If you like its unique look and feel, its quality, its deeper meaning and its excellent condition then you will love our price. Especially, since perfect packing (in a custom made box) and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 18.9 x 9.45 x 7.2 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish and meaningful and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

    Located in Milan, IT
Crucifix on Calvary, called 'Pestis Christi' or Crucifiix Pestis 'Plague of Christ' or Plague Crucifix). The sculpture is composite, made with heterogeneous materials: wax, wood, papier-mâché. The octagonal base is slightly raised and supports the calvary, symbolized by rocks, from which the crucifix rises, made with intentionally unfinished boards and with marked veins. The depicted Christ is peculiar: he shows scarified skin all over his body. Masterfully crafted in wax. They are the plagues of the plague that Christ, 'Agnus Dei' takes charge of with salvific value, for the salvation of the world. At his feet the ordeal full of symbols: evil (snake) with the apple, the 'Memento mori' of human bones...
