Reliquary Pendant, Silver, Enamel, 17th Century

About

One of its fronts presents a textile background under a transparent glass, space that was surely designed to contain relics. The other side has a brightly colored enamel with the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus naked in her arms and a background of landscape with classical architectural elements (spine column grooved on pedestal, with moldings) and details of a natural landscape (thus being able to link the moment with the Rest in the Flight to Egypt); compare the enamel with works such as the Virgin with Child by Anton van Dyck in the Cerralbo Museum in Madrid or the oil in The Walters Art Museum, or with the engraving by Paulus Pontius after models of Van Dyck -where the elements coincide in disposition with those of the medallion-, for example). · Size: 6,5x0.5x8 cms. International Buyers – Please Note: These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up - do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. o The "handling time" may be 5 days or more, depending on the exportation and other requirements o Please, note that for those articles that need Export Permits (those older than 100 years), the obtaining of the Permit will be processed without additional expenses, but the period for the obtention of it may vary from 10 to 35 days.
