18th Century Ring Dial by Gilbert, London

About the Item

A good example of a 18th century brass ring dial by John Gilbert, London. The well engraved 6" dial is complete with sliding suspension ring and peep hole sight moving over calendar and zodiac signs. John Gilbert was a mathematical instrument maker at Tower Hill, London and died in 1763 A ring dial by Gilbert is in the Science Museum, London.
