1940s Japanese Fuji Meibo Naval Binoculars, MOD Antique Tripod and Castors

About the Item

Japanese Fuji Meibo observation binoculars 15 x 80, 4 degree field of view. A large pair of Japanese ex-navy observation binoculars mounted on an antique 1940s ERYL & S bronze, brass and hardwood tripod signed and stamped with the British Ministry of Defence crows foot and serial number. We have also included a tripod dolly which allow castors to be lowered and the tripod moved with ease by using the double ball lever. The Binoculars can be removed from the wheel set if required. The marine binoculars with 4º incline eyepieces are marked ‘FUJI, Meibo, 15 x 80 4º, No. 3800 (date circa mid-1940s) design and manufactured by Fuji Photo Optical Co. Ltd Japan. These binoculars are predominately used for viewing the horizon, the optics give outstanding visual clarity and even make great star gazing lenses. The eyepieces can be adjusted for focus and distance between pupils can be opened and closed. These splendid Japanese binoculars have been stripped and polished and are fully restored to original working order, they have been mounted to the tripod using the original deck post complete with original 360 degree protractor. We can send a video of this working on request. We have replaced the original bakelite knob on the end of the operating lever with a solid brass sphere, the same brass is fitted to the levers on tripod base to enhance the great pairing.
