19th century cast iron book press by army and navy csl circa 1890.
Fine quality book press by army & navy c.S.L . Army and navy co-operative society limited was formed in 1871 by British army and navy officers, producing and retailing various good's and supplying stores such as Harrods. They were taken over by house of fraser in 1981.
This book press is fully functional and embellished with brass handles and further elements. Applied plaque of 'army and navy. C .S ld Westminister . Sw 105 victoria street'. Probable later black paint.
Very heavy item as you would expect from the nature of it's purpose.
