Black Forest 12 Pointer Deer Trophy on Wooden Plaque ca. 1900s An antique 12 pointer deer (Cervus elaphus) trophy from the Black Forest. The trophy was shot around 1900. The large antlers are mounted on a wodden carved skull and a turned wooden wall plaque with black finish. Trophies are mementos from the hunted game, which are kept by the huntsmen as a souvenir or decorative item. For many centuries it was a tradition to collect trophies. Nowadays exactly these are becoming more and more popular as decorative highlights in hunting lodges.
