Celebrating the Majesty of Alaskan Dall Rams: Large Taxidermy Showcase
About the Item
Majestic Large Taxidermy Alaskan Dall Ram, an embodiment of the rugged mountain landscapes of Alaska. These magnificent creatures, scientifically known as Ovis dalli dalli, gracefully traverse the Alaskan mountains, with their iconic curled horns distinguishing the males. While even the females, referred to as ewes, bear horns of their own, these are shorter and more delicately curved. Notably, it takes until the age of three for rams to exhibit distinct horn growth, prior to which they closely resemble ewes. The horns undergo continuous growth throughout the spring, summer, and early fall, slowing and eventually halting in late fall or winter. This growth pattern results in distinctive rings, called annuli, along the length of the horn, aiding in age determination. Some Dall rams have been observed living up to the age of 16, while ewes have achieved an impressive 19 years. Nonetheless, a 12-year-old sheep is generally considered quite elderly. Capture the essence of these remarkable creatures with this taxidermy piece, measuring an impressive 22" x 22" x 32"H.
