Tiffany & Co. Paris 1916 French Table Petrol Lighter in Jasper & Sterling Silver
Located in Miami, FL
Table petrol lighter designed by Tiffany & Co. A very unusual table petrol lighter, created in Paris France by Tiffany & Co. back in the 1916. This is an extremely rare table lighter has been crafted in solid .900/.999 silver and carved Orbicular Ocean Jasper. Mounted in a round dentilated flat base and fitted with a chained lid. Gemstones: The main body of the lighter is carved from one single piece of rare Orbicular Ocean Jasper from Madagascar. Birthstone: For the month of April 20 to May 20 Weight: 226.50 Grams, (145.19 Dwt). Measurements: 47 mm by 47 mm by (1.85 x 1.85 x 3.75 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks, the maker's maitre mark EM inside a lozange cartouche, the brand name mark, the French tax plaque Ministere Des Finances with monogram CI and signed, "TIFFANY & CO. PARIS". Note: On 10th December 1910 the French state adopted a new tax regulations on all devices indented to produce spark or fire by friction, or by any other means, and of the combustion of a flammable substance. Since 1st January 1911 every lighter in France that was intended for sale in the French market had to be taxed and adequately marked. To confirm that the excise duty was paid to the Ministry of Finance a special duty metal plate (stamp) was attached (usually welded) to the lighter by the lighter manufacturers. The fees charged by the French state were high but the tax rates levied by the state were varying depending on the type and finish of the lighter. Following tax rates were used: 2 French francs for common pocket lighters, 5 Fr for pocket lighters made of silver, 20 Fr for luxury pocket lighters (e.g. made of gold), 5 Fr for common table/desk lighters (over 10 cm), 10 Fr for table/desk lighters (over 10 cm) made of silver, 50 Fr for luxury table/desk lighters (over 10 cm) made of gold or platinum. Between 1911 and 1916 a simple cooper plate was used which had the date 1911 engraved. Later, between 1916 and 1945 a new plate (undated) was introduced with the letters "C" and "I" (stands for indirect taxes) and a profile of Mercury (patron god of financial gain, commerce and messengers) with an inscription "Ministère Des Finances" (eng. Ministry of Finance). Two shapes were used for the plate – oval for table lighters, the other one for pocket lighters. Additional to the two duty plates a marking "BL" (Briquet de Luxe, eng. luxury lighter) was introduced in 1926. It was a small hallmark which was considered as more discreet and applied only on luxury lighters like Quercia or Lancel. It is worth to mention that France was not the sole country where lighters were taxed and marked with special plates...

IMCO 1953 Primex 6300 Julius Franz Meister Petrol Lighter In Chromed Steel MIB
Located in Miami, FL
Primex 6300 lighter designed by IMCO. This is a brilliantly engineered, unusual and quite ingenious semi-automatic pocket lighter designed by Julius Franz Meister in Austria, back in the 1953. This model was made by the IMCO company and was named PRIMEX 6300. Has been crafted in solid chromed steel with engine turned lattice decorations. This lighter is very rare and not many has been manufactured, it is in unused grade, never fired and in very mint condition. It has a removable fuel chamber and a total of 3 pushbuttons on the sides, two at the front and one at the rear. Can be operated by the thumb push at the top of the lighter to activate the wheel and fire. After operating, the first pushbutton allows the wind-guard to be raised during use. The second pushbutton allows the fuel chamber to be ejected and the third pushbutton is for flint changing, by raising the flint wheel actuator and opening the back of the lighter. Quite ingenious. There are two versions for the name of this lighter, both are very rare; the "Perplex" and the "Primex", but technically they are the same; in design, materials and measures. The one with named Primex is a lot more rarer than the Perplex. Model: Primex 6300, also know as Perplex 6300. Materials: Chromed Steel Weight: Lighter alone is 60.8 Grams. Measurements: 64 mm by 47 mm by 14 mm (2.52 x 1.85 x 0.55 Inches). Rarity: Very rare in mint and never fired condition. Marks: Stamped with the maker's mark and signed as follow; "IMCO PRIMEX PATENT AUSTRIA 6300". IMCO IMCO was a very important Austrian manufacturer of cigarette lighters. Established in 1907 by Julius Franz Meister, who was formerly a manufacturer of brass buttons for the Austro-Hungarian Army. The first IMCO lighters...

Ronson 1938 Type 2 Art Deco Mechanical Cigarette Dispenser Box Touch Tip Lighter
Located in Miami, FL
Art Deco mechanical dispenser box with lighter made by Ronson. An exceptional and very decorative mechanical desk box, created in the city of Newark, New Jersey United States by The Ronson Metal Works Co. during the Art Deco period, back in the 1938. This is a very rare box designed by Frederick Kaupmann with geometric machine age patterns. It was crafted with parts made up in solid steel and chromed steel. Embellished with semicircular linear knob to lid on gunmetal base with black lacquer enamel, creating a great contrast to the brilliant steel and the interiors are finished with round brushed Fiorentine patterns. This is the variation which is mounted in four squared sabbots, the touch tip is cylindrical, the knob is semicircular and the lighter part is decorated with lines instead plain. This piece is extremely well made with a solid construction and with very nice attention to all details. This surely is a very decorative collectors piece and a great conversation item. Weight: 2,267 Grams, (5 Pounds). Measurements: 205 mm by 120 mm by 104 mm (8.07 x 4.75 x 4.10 Inches). Marks: Stamped with the maker's mark and signed, "FASHIONED BY Ronson NEWARK NJ Ronson TOUCH-TIP-US PATS 1.986.754-DESIGN PAT .97.247-BRITISH PAT APPL'D FOR-CANADA PAT 349.148 ART METAL WORKS INC-NEWARK NJ USA" The Ronson lighter company started as The Art Metal Works in 1897 and was incorporated on July 20, 1898, by Max Hecht, Louis Vincent Aronson and Leopold Herzig, in Newark, New Jersey. Louis V. Aronson was a huge creative driving force for the company; and, with a few business adjustments, including the addition of Alexander Harris (1910–11) as Business Manager, the company soon became World Famous. In the 1910s The Art Metal Works were producing very good quality Hood Ornaments and gained a reputation as a dependable supplier of same. All accounts state that Louis Aronson was a gifted man, who at 16 years old set up a money-making shop in his parent's home - before receiving a U.S. patent for a commercially valuable metal-plating process he developed when he was 24 years old, and he sold half the rights while retaining the Right to Use. "His experiments, which he has been conducting since his early youth, resulted in 1893 in the discovery of a process for electrically producing tinplate. Much money was expended upon improving the process. and has been of great practical value to the whole industry. Retaining its rights, he sold half the patent rights, and later used part of the proceeds to open the Art Metal Works in Newark, N.J. Soon the company was producing a variety of high-quality Lamps, Book ends, Art Statues and other decorative items, prized today for their detail in the collector marketplace. Literature: Urban K. Cummings, Ronson, the World's Greatest Lighter : Wick Lighters 1913-1966 Bird Dog Books, California. 1992. For this exact model Illustrated. Note: This model was produced in two colors, black or brown with geometric variants at the touch tip lighter...
