About the Item

Collection of 37 Elastolin toy Noah's Ark and Zoo animals, the birds in cages were for use in a dollhouse. Elastolin is a trademark used by the German company O&M Hausser (O&M Haußer) for toy soldiers and other types of figures it manufactured from composite mass composed of paper, milling waste and glue around metal wire. The Hausser firm was founded in 1904 by Christian Hausser and his sons Otto and Max. The factory was situated in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart. Emil Pfeiffer's company was founded in 1873 in Vienna, Austria and from circa 1880 also produced figures for children. The Pfeiffer figures became world famous because of their loving and colorful painting for which Pfeiffer engaged only the best painters, mostly students of the municipal art academies. In 1922 the firm registered the name "Tipple Topple" this marked the company's own composition material composed of sand, milling waste and chestnut flour. In 1925 Pfeiffer became part of the Hausser company.
