Modernist Rocking Horse from Denmark

About

A wonderful modernist interpretation of the Classic children's riding toy. The artisan who made it is unknown, but it was originally sold at Den Permanente ("The Permanent"), the legendary Copenhagen gallery that from 1931 until the 1980s was at the center of the universe for lovers of Danish craftsmanship and design. This beautifully stylized horse has fully articulated legs, and rocks back and forth (on a pivot hidden inside its body) just as you'd expect. Extraordinarily charming in person, this rocking horse combines "folk" and "modern" most satisfyingly.
