Art Deco Bookends in Disko Metal by Just Andersen, 1930s. Set of 2.
Wonderful pair of book ends designed by Danish sculptor Just Andersen in Denmark in the 1930s.
Depicting Saint George slaying the dragon. Made of Disko Metal which is an alloy created by Just Andersen and only used by him. The color of the alloy was inspired by the colors from the Disko Bay in Greenland where he was born. The recipe for this alloy was kept a secret and after his death no one has been able to recreate it.
Stamped with logo and serial number 1626.
Very good original condition with light patina consistent with age and use.
