About the Item
Rare and heavy bronze bookends with Thomas Paine and Robert Louis Stevenson 'books'.
With the holiday season on our doorstep we will be offering a number of season related items, but also some smaller and lower priced art and antiques that will make great gifts for yourself or for family & friends. This stylish pair of heavy bronze bookends from circa 1960-1970 is practical and an absolute joy to watch at the same time. Both these bronze bookends represent two classical and 'leather bound' antique books. The smaller one is the 1882 novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson and the taller book standing against it is the 1791 published book Rights of Man by Thomas Paine. Since we have never seen this handcrafted bronze pair before, it is possible that they are custom made and therefor unique. This bronze pair with the black felt at the bottom makes a great gift for yourself or for a friend-novelist, librarian, author or someone who owns an antiquarian bookshop.
