About the Item
Stylish and undoubtedly meaningful midcentury bookends of practical size and design.
We are not educated in the fields of physics, chemistry or biology, but somehow we have a feeling that this geometrical design 'element' on top of these book shaped, alabaster bookends has something to do with some form of science. We find the shape of this element very pleasing to the eye and we love the fact that the designer chose to use a pure white alabaster that would make it stand out even more against the darker type of alabaster with the many black veins. We have seldomly seen laquered alabaster, but given the very good condition, we feel that this was done to prevent this relatively soft mineral stone from scratching on the surface. These very stylish and truly rare alabaster bookends from the midcentury era also make a great gift for a teacher, student, an author or any other individual with a more than average interest in books in general and in 'the sciences' in particular.
