19th Century Colonial Travelling Chest or Trunk

About the Item

A late 19th century handcrafted colonial travelling chest or trunk with embossed metal overlay and mounts. The trunk comprises solid carved teak wood and features a hinged lid. The interior is in good clean condition. The chest is adorned with pierced metal sheets throughout, creating a series of geometric and Moorish inspired patterns. Exquisitely detailed with magnificent craftsmanship. The chest is fitted with several carrying handles, all standing on bracket feet. Originally used for travels and often for the export of goods. Makes a great coffee table or accent piece. The dimensions are: Height: 50cm (19.7in) Width: 101cm (39.8in) Depth: 54cm (21.3in)
