Salvino Marsura sculptural coat rack Italy 1970

About the Item

Sculptural coat rack designed by Salvino Marsura and made in his own atelier in Italy in 1970. This coat rack is both a work of art as a functional piece made from wrought iron that's been meticulously hammered and welded, resulting in a strikingly brutalist appearance. To enhance its depth, it has been painted in various finishes. You'll find Marsura's signature on one of the arms, confirming its authenticity. This piece is easy to hang on the wall and comes with its original screws. Salvino Marsura is an Italian artist, born in Treviso in 1938, whose career has spanned 60 years from the 1950’s onwards.  The body of his work is comprised of small and large-scale sculpture as well as furniture and architectural elements. Today, as in the past, the work is manual, following in the footsteps of the blacksmith: forge, anvil, hammer, force and wits. Beyond his ability in the craft of metal, the main gift of Marsura is that he gives a soul to lifeless material. He started with an apprenticeship in the workshop of Toni Benetton after which he jumped straight into adventure.  He had to struggle, he had to fight against misunderstanding of every kind, but today the recognition of his work has reached outside the circle of Treviso.  Not a prefabricated cliche, Marsura trusts his own instinct, his metamorphic fantasy. Informal or new constructivist, figurative or abstract, geometric or naturalistic, he throws himself where a kind of biological propulsion pushes him.

  • Giacomo Onestini ceramic sculpture Italy 1970
    By Giacomo Onestini
    Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Beautiful ceramic sculpture designed by Giacomo Onestini made in his own atelier in Italy in 1970. It has a combination of matte and shiny glazed surfaces. The back and sides of the sculpture have a textured surface with shades of gray, green, and sometimes turquoise. On the front, there's a carved-out section that's smooth and glazed with red and gold hues. It's a very appealing and intriguing piece. You can find the artist's signature, "Onestini," on the side of the sculpture. This piece was created in the artist's personal studio. Very nice large sized, heavy piece and in excellent condition. After graduating as a master ceramist, Onestini moved to San Marino where he found employment at the "Marmaca" ceramics factory. Around the end of the 1950s, he moved to Salerno and began working with the "Ernestine...
