Inspired by the Op Art of the '60s and the Memphis Movement of the '80s, the No Wave series features bold, monochromatic wood stripes—classical, retro, and modern at once. The Record Cabinet Series is influenced by casework produced in the mid century. Her furniture designs are unique in allowing the user to flip through albums face first, emphasizing album cover art over spines, thereby functionally organizing, and stylishly displaying, their music collection, all with proportion and scale in mind. Music, relaxation, and lively conversation are brought into our living space through our furniture pieces, crafted by Atocha’s point of view both visually and philosophically. The owner engages with the design, finding joy from having what they love at their fingertips. Jennifer Atocha is a New York City-based designer.
