Vintage Jacob Rupert Metal Bottle Carrier
About the Item
Own a bit of history.! This bottle carrier dated 1918 is probably one of the earliest still in existence. Ruppert opened a two million barrel brewery in upper Manhattan in 1913. The $30 million brewery employed 1,000 workers. The particular carrier also has the inspection dates inscribed on the side validating that it was compliant.
The brewery, which produced the best-selling beer in America in the early 20th century, closed in 1965. Within five years, its 35 buildings between 90th and 94th streets and second and third avenues had been leveled. Apartment buildings, one called Ruppert Towers, now occupy much of the site.
Use this very collectable carrier for holding loose items, toys, a conversation piece or a wonderful display or decorative piece.
