FRANK STELLA The Mesh Canvas, 2015
About the Item
The Mesh Canvas, a collaboration between Frank Stella, Art in America and Artspace, brings to life an artist-designed project photographed in the May-June 1968 issue of Art in America. These limited-edition needlepoint cushions were produced to celebrate Stella's retrospective, opening October 30, 2015 at the new Whitney Museum in New York. While Stella’s original designs, adapted from his 1961 series “Concentric Squares,” were stitched by Antoinette Fraissex du Bost, the wife of influential gallerist Leo Castelli, this edition allows the viewer to become involved in the creative process.
