About the Item

As seen in the Financial Times Magazine 'How to Spend it'. Large custom made one-of-a-kind luxury cushion (pillow) created from an exquisite and rare vintage pure silk Gucci fashion scarf in a bold and striking design. It depicts various ropes and chains delicately sweeping across the front of the cushion falling flowing down from the same metal hoop. The print is called ‘Ca Ecubuer’ which translates as ‘hawse-hole’, which is a nautical term for a hole in the hull of a boat used to pass the chain of the anchor. These particular cables are very glamorous with the use of gold and pretty shades of pink ranging from pastel to hot pink. The busy illustration features intricate loops, knots and linking components of different shapes and sizes. They appear to be floating weightlessly as if blown in the wind, gently intertwining with one another, making a really beautiful design. Note the brand’s iconic signature logo ‘Gucci’ in the lower right hand corner, proudly encircled in a loose rope end as if having been caught. Founded in Florence in 1920 as a high-end leather goods manufacturer by Guccio Gucci who had been an immigrant hotel worker in both Paris and later London and was impressed with the luxurious luggage he saw wealthy guests bring with them. Known for their bamboo and equestrian snaffle-bit detailing, loafers, former creative director Tom Ford and clients such as Grace Kelly. With a sumptuous soft feel to touch, this luxury scarf is in perfect condition. On a quality twill silk with beautiful texture and diagonal grain which was delicately hand rolled and hemmed before being carefully unraveled to create our cushion. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled effect. This breathtaking oversized pillow is without a doubt the ultimate statement piece for an interior. Elegant and feminine it conjures sophistication and seductive luxury, the ultimate showpiece for yacht decor. A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric.
