Title: Set of Large Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo Silk Scarf and Linen Pillows Zebra Black White (Please note they are sold separately and not as a pair, I you would like both then the quantity 2 needs to be selected upon check-out) Description: Custom-made one-of-a-kind pair of cushions (pillows) created from stunning rare vintage, silk Salvatore Ferragamo fashion scarves in an elaborate flora and fauna design. Salvatore Ferragamo was an innovative shoe designer from Milan renowned for his iconic 1930s cork wedges and the 1947 ‘invisible shoe’. In fact in the 1980s Ferragamo used his early shoe designs as prints on their scarves. He first introduced silk scarves to his collections in the 1950s, the earliest depicting African zoological animals and flora theme, the brand is still known today for producing exotic animals and organic motifs on their luxury scarves. This particular silk is a very rare and exceptional piece, and we feel the zebra find is more unique than their usual tigers and large cats. The charming zebras gracefully appear set within luscious foliage. Exquisitely detailed, note the exotic hortensia/hydrangea flower pattern cleverly drawn covering the animals face and bodies making them appear delicately incased in an extra skin of camouflage. On a clean, fresh ground of luxurious ivory off white , which really makes the print pop, and with a beautiful sumptuous sheen. It makes a spectacular and dramatic statement piece for an interior. It is not often we come across two in identical colour-ways and conditions. The fabric was personally hand-picked by Katie at antiques market ‘Marche aux Puces Saint-Ouen’ on the outskirts of Paris. On a sumptuous silk soft to the touch. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo cloth, filled with new custom-made plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful melange effect. A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric. Handmade in Ireland. By designer-maker Katie Larmour This cushion is a one-of-a-kind and part of a sustainability project. It has been created from a repurposed, up-cycled, recycled fabric, used with the intentions on promoting a more eco-friendly environment. We both celebrate and cherish the past and take care with rare and precious vintage and antique materials. (this cushion frame can also be reversed back into a scarf and presented in a frame on request) Colour: Yellow ochre, brown, tan, taupe, beige, antique gold, charcoal, grey (gray), soft black, leaf green, sage, teal, navy, pencil drawing. Some of the images towards the end of the gallery depict this cushion in other colours-ways that we have made over the years, it is the same pattern but featuring other colours, to show how beautiful it is.
