Specchi Mirrors Set Designed by Nestor Perkal for Oscar Maschera
By Nestor Perkal, Oscar Maschera
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Set of seven hand mirrors which are in fact mounted on the wall. The softness of the leather makes it impossible for them to be held and forces us to hang them up, individually or together. “Mirrors should reflect a little before throwing back images.” Jean Cocteau, Le Sang d’un poète (1930). “This object has always fascinated me. Is it there simply to reflect our image or is it looking at us? It envelopes us, searches for us, constantly questions us. At Oscar Maschera I looked for what leather could bring to this object and how it could become its supporting structure.” — Nestor Perkal. Perfect day - set of n. 7 mirrors. Mirror 1 cm 16 x 27. Mirror 2 cm 16 x 39. Mirror 3 cm 19.5 x 39. Mirror 4 cm 18 x 54.5. Mirror 5 cm 21 x 53. Mirror 6 cm 15 x 35. Mirror 7 cm 19 x 24. Each mirror is equipped with stainless steel hook...

"Caballito Blanco Grande" Ottoman Designed by Nestor Perkal for Oscar Maschera
By Nestor Perkal, Oscar Maschera
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Nestor Perkal’s inspiration rides the White Horse. With the bridle loose and reins held tight, he has illustrated and narrated the story of that image, seen as a child in a neighborhood shop window, which he imagines in the countryside but encounters as he strolls through the streets of Buenos Aires and which evoke in him the Argentina of his dreams. With the rigor of true gentleness, without loosing sight of the magic, without forgetting the wooden toy. The mane flows free in the wind, in the same wind that accompanied the indigenous people and the gaucho on their adventures. The Argentinean men, who crossed the landscape in search of food, land and family, made use of the horse on that epic crossing. The saddle was a useful contrivance until it became the norm. The verb to mount declines with the noun Mount. Perkal’s metaphor symbolizes concern, support, friendship and repose. His poetic memory is humanistic. It is that sensitive passion that becomes a real image. To this concept he adds the weave of the fabric, hand crafted in the north of Argentina. The loom reveals its cloth, brandished by guards and flags, identity and tradition. “Come quickly little White Horse, take me to the land where I was born… I have, have, have……….. three sheep in a shed. One gives me milk another gives me wool, the third gives me butter the whole week through” leather version: structure cm. 110 × 90 × H 35. seat cover in leather cm. 100 × 130. leather and fabric version: structure cm. 110 × 90 × H 35. seat cover in leather cm. 94 × 114. fabric cm. 102 × 134. 18th Century Italian Angels with Tangerine Quartz Crystals Mounted on Aragonite
By Interi
Located in Dublin, Dalkey
Pair of 18th century Italian hand-carved gold leaf angels with tangerine quartz crystals and mounted on aragonite. The hand-carved angels were once part of a heavenly, angelic depiction in a historic church in Tuscany. The angel arms and feet are adorned with the tangerine quartz crystals to restore the broken aspects of the figurative pair. They appear partially crystalized in form. The aragonite is from Morocco and has many different formations. This one in particular emulates a cloud which is compliments the 18th century Italian gilded angels. The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she created the piece and the period shows that the pair of Italian angels...
