19th Century Phenomenal Lori Pambak Kazak Rug

About the Item

Lori Pambak rugs are some of the most sought-after Caucasian rugs. Woven in the mountainous Lori region of Armenia, rugs from this region are most renowned for their cruciform octagonal shield designs. The most notable of these rugs have rich blood-red madder grounds and a fine mix of colors throughout the field and border. Bold colors and designs make for a powerful Lori Pambak rug weaved in the traditional sense with the weaver's touch manifested in the tribal motifs found in the field. A celebration of both classical designs and improvisations simultaneously. The deep madder red field portrays the classic Lori Pambak pattern of a central ivory octagonal medallion with a green central cruciform. It is flanked by two hexagonal medallions with layered latch-hooks of gold, madder, navy-blue, and metallic blue. The ivory main border displays tribal motifs and is flanked by blue ground minor borders with madder, ivory, gold, and green S-shapes.
