A geometric tribal looking Caucasian shirvan rug from the early part of the 20th century. Antique Caucasian rugs from the Shirvan district village are still considered one of the best decorative and collector type of rugs from that the Caucasian regions/villages. Similar to Kazak carpets, Shirvan rugs often featured a limited palette of navy, crimson and ivory hues that emphasized the strong symmetrical and tribal aesthetic. This particular example has a design seen in antique Persian Heriz rugs.
