Tribal Geometric Antique Caucasian Shirvan Rug

About the Item

A geometric tribal looking Caucasian shirvan rug from the early 20th century. Brick red field, earth accents in green and blue, circa 1910. Measures: 3'8" x 4'10" Antique Caucasian rugs from the Shirvan district village are still considered one of the best decorative and collector type of rugs from that the Caucasian regions/villages. Similar to Kazak carpets, Shirvan rugs often featured a limited palette of navy, crimson and ivory hues that emphasized the strong symmetrical and tribal aesthetic. This particular example has a design seen in antique Persian Heriz rugs.
