Early 20th Century Karagashli Rug

About the Item

Kuba is the largest rug weaving centre in the Caucasus region. Located in the northeast near the Caspian Sea, this area is known for producing rugs with medium-density, low piles on solid foundations. Karagashli is a small town in the northern part of this region, and is known for producing rugs with designs having large slanting palmettes on indigo fields often flanked by ivory star-like flowers. 7' 3" x 5' 2".
