Hand-knotted carpet design inspired by ancient Serapis red and blue tones

About the Item

This interesting artifact comes from the Afghan city of Ghazni, capital of the province of the same name. High-quality carpets with patterns inspired by classic Persian carpets are made at this location. Our carpet in particular is reminiscent of ancient Serapi carpets, with their "dramatic" designs and bright hues. Supporting and enhancing the production of these carpets, made mainly by female masters, is at this particular historical moment in Afghanistan a way to give value and prestige to women's work.
