About the Item

Antique Afghan area rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool. It’s colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Tabriz handwoven by expert artisans. It’s a lovely area rug that can be incorporated with virtually any home interior design. It has a dimension of 14’2” x 19’9” which works well for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms. Tabriz is the capital city of East Azerbaijan Province, Iran which is close to the border of Turkey. It has earned the reputation of producing some of the finest rugs in the world particularly those commissioned by the great Shah Abbas during the 15th and 16th centuries. Tabriz even gained more prominence in the 19th century when famous carpet makers Haji Jalili, Kurban Dai, and Sheik Safi produced exceptional designs that graced royal courts as well as the homes of the rich and famous. Tabriz rug designs are often characterized by intricate floral patterns woven on a grand scale; a style obviously tailor-made for palaces and mansions. The color palette often used by weavers is rich and deep such as red, navy blue and black mixed with gray and ivory, hues denoting class and elegance. Important: Actual rug colors may vary from pictures and description. You may request additional photos/videos.
