About the Item
Mid-20th century Samarkand beige, brown and orange handmade wool rug.
Size: 4'6" × 9'2" (137 × 279 cm)
Samarkand rugs have an unusual warmth to them that manages even the most barren looking rooms into cozy sanctuaries. Those jewels of Middle Asia continue to bewitch countless rug collectors all-over the world with remarkable ease. Few pieces of decor can change an interior so much with relatively little effort. Traditionally produced using the asymmetric Persian knot, Samarkand rugs are famous for their great quality. Nowadays Samarkand rugs are considered to be a luxury and are widely beloved by carpet connoisseurs.
This stunning Samarkand runner is a real treat for the eyes. It was woven in the mid-20th century, circa 1950. Rug’s pattern, while inspired by Oriental art, is a truly original creation. A symmetrical geometric design in the form of highly decorated circles, framed by simplistic squares, will certainly be appreciated by both art lovers and those preferring modern decor. The color palette of this rug consists of mostly neutral shades, such as beige and brown, accompanied by orange and black in the background.
