About the Item
Hand knotted in wool and silk, the 9x12 modern rug “Where I Want to Be Part 1” hails from our Artist Collaboration collection, named for the abstract design of inspiration by celebrated modern artist Brian Coleman.
On the Design:
Coleman’s design is a meeting of abstract minimalist sensibility and bold geometric figure, where a humble palette of beige-brown, gray and black paint a picture of dimension, presence and sophistication. Part of the art and skill here is how fine curvature has been adapted to this large size with such an attention to detail and refined texture—a translation of contemporary art to rugs that’s the most immersive of any today. The result is an evocative masterpiece, yet also quite livable in its colors.
Silk’s natural sheen in this skillful juxtaposition of colorway allows the brighter notes to come to life against the deeper pallet with a bold sense of movement and gravity in this edition where the dimensionality and depth our loom achieved captured the splendor of the original work of renown.
