Samarkand and Khotan rugs made in the oasis towns of East Turkestan are true flowers of this arid landscape and the vintage rug before your eyes emanates with beauty in full bloom. Its main field carries the most characteristic to this weaving area design of three medallions and pomegranates which are the oriental symbol of prosperity and fertility. This auspicious message is enclosed within the series of borders with floral and geometric motifs that, through their both Chinese and Middle-Eastern character, exhibit the immense diversity of Samarkand craftsmanship.
