A highly refined antique Chinese carpet, distinguished by a subtle tone on tone pattern of scrolling leafs in sky blue on a denim blue background, reminiscent of the most sophisticated Imperial porcelain of the Ming period. The silky wool is characteristic of of the finest Peking carpets of the first decade of the twentieth century, marking the end of the Qing dynasty, a period where the Chinese aesthetics favored simpler forms in all of its arts.
