Contemporary Finesse Handmade Viscose Rug by Doris Leslie Blau

About the Item

Contemporary Finesse handmade Viscose rug by Doris Leslie Blau Size: 14.5" × 17.6" (439 × 533 cm) As its name suggests, this contemporary rug enchants with delicacy and gentleness expressed not only by its appealing design but also by the masterful execution. This piece of art was thoroughly hand-knotted of the two excellent materials – wool and silk – in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan. There lies the secret of its luminous and absolutely irresistible pile which may lure any unsuspecting stranger with softness into touching it with both hands and feet. Such masterful execution is also the guarantee of the rug’s uniqueness and durability due to which it will serve its lucky owners for many decades without any signs of wear or damage. This timeless abstract carpet practically falls into the category of solid beautiful rugs as the only element of the design constitutes the border in an elegant lilac hue which stands out from the serene, almost heavenly light blue main field. Truly majestic in size, this modern size carpet will be ideal for all sorts of spacious interiors, especially with a slightly feminine, gentle vibe. It is the option for all beauty lovers who want something extraordinary to complement their home decor.

A vintage Tibetan throw rug handmade during the mid-20th century. Measures: 3' 1" x 5' 8" Chinese Rugs & Carpet: The craft of the hand-knotted carpet in China, and the surrounding areas including Mongolia and Tibet, extends into the early centuries of the first millennium, C.E., but we really have a firm grasp only beginning in the later 16th century with large, very coarsely woven carpets, often depicting dragons, created for the Imperial Forbidden City palaces. Chinese carpets have always been commercial and there are no tribal groups responsible for any of the carpet weaving strains. Palettes were initially limited to yellows, dark blue and cream, but later widened to include reds, browns and even green. These antiques were the first Chinese carpets to be exported to the West and they fitted in well with the craze for Chinese blue-and-white porcelain in the second half of the 19th century. Ningxia also wove shaped and rectangular small rugs for saddle underlays, chair (“throne”) seats and shaped backs, pillar carpets...
